When to buy back

Two rerolls a run. Spend them on the roster, not on the spell.

Buyback TPs you to a different roster this round. You get two per run and they don't carry over. Used well they are worth three or four OVR; used early they are worth nothing.

  • Buy back on rosters, not on spells. Four players show up with one hero each, so a roster offers four real options. If their four best values are all in spells you already hold, that is a buyback. If one hero has a decent value in the group you need, take it.
  • Hold one for rounds 11–13. The last three rounds are where you fill forced slots. A roster with nothing above 60 in your two remaining spells is where the second buyback goes.
  • In Chaos, buyback rerolls the open slots too. That makes it stronger there. Use the first one as soon as all four open slots are bad, not just the roster.
  • Blind buybacks are guesses. Only buy back in Blind when the roster has no hero known for the group you need.

There is an achievement for finishing without a buyback and another for using both and still lifting the Aegis. Neither is the point. The point is round thirteen.
